Worth of a Rupee

 Worth of a Rupee

Once there was a girl named Rosy, who was fond of expensive things and liked to spend money for them. One day she bought many expensive toys because of which her pocket money got finished in a day. Her father scolded her and explained that each rupee counts a lot but she refused to understand.

Next day it was a party which she gave to her friends in which she spent a lot on snacks and drinks. Her mother explained her the same as her father but it had no effect on Rosy.

Now it was the following week when she went on a picnic with her friends. Her mother had given her 50 rupees - 30 for snacks and 20 to get the bus to get back home. But Rosy didn't understand what her parents had explained her, so she spent 31 rupees for the snacks, ignoring the extra 1 rupee which was the bus charge. Now it was the time to get back home, so all went to the bus stop. All got into the bus except Rosy who couldn't pay the cost of 20 rupees which was the bus charge. She only had 19 rupees so she got down of the bus. She stood staring her friends as the bus got down the road.

As she was wondering how to get back home, there came a beggar who said, "May I help you to reach back home? I saw you couldn't get the bus as you didn't have enough money. Here take this one rupee."

"But you are so poor, so how can I take money from you. I don't need it."

"As you wish." said the beggar, and then disappeared behind the bushes.

As darkness rose above the sky, Rosy got worried. She saw the beggar and asked for the coin. She got the coin, went to the bus stop, got the bus, and returned home.

Realising the kindness of the beggar inspite of being poorto give her the rupee and understanding the value of a rupee, she visited the place again where they had their picnic to meet the beggar, but she could never meet him again.

Moral:

Even a single rupee is of much worth.
